The National Population and Family Planning Commission of China reported on March 28 that China's sex ratio of male to female born babies is persistently high, yet for the first time there is a "3 consecutive drop" (the ratio between male and female babies has dropped in each of the last three years). This shows that China's comprehensive administrative measures have a definite effect. However, even if there is a drop in the last three years, the sex ratio for born infants is still above the safety line by more than 10 percentage points.

The ratio has dropped from 119.45 (119.45 born male infants per 100 female babies) in 2009 to 117.94 in 2010 and 117.78 in 2011. According to data by the National Bureau of Statistics, the sex ratio has dropped in three consecutive years for the first time in 30 years.

According to a report by People's Daily, since the 1980's and along with the spread of Ultrasonic equipment, China's sex ratio for born babies became consistently high, reaching 120.56 in 2008. In the last three years, there is a drop tendency in this ratio, but it is still higher than the 'safety line' by over 10 percentage points.

According to data by the National Bureau of Statistics, at present, there is a severe imbalance in the sex ratio of ages 19 and under. Until 2020, China will have 24 million more men at marriage age than women at that age. At that time, there will be more than 10 million 'leftover'-single men facing difficulties in finding a wife.
